8th Grade A Team Ends Season as Undefeated District Champs

A solid performance by Desmond Malveaux and Nick King found the East Chambers 8th Grade A Team on the winning side of the final district game Thursday night as they defeated Anauhac 71-19. The first quarter was all EC as they held the Panthers to 8 points while building a 13-point lead at the end of the first period. In the second quarter, the Bucs added another 21 points as they increased their lead to 42-12 at the break. After the half, the Bucs extended their lead to 37 points with an explosive 3rd quarter. The Panthers tried to decrease East Chambers' lead in the fourth quarter, but they were only able to erase 2 of the 37 points in the loss, while EC didn’t miss a shot. Malveaux and King finished the night with 18 points each, while Brandon Johnson chipped in 14, and Jarrod Guillory added 12. Brennan Beckett, Cody Tallina, and Dory Roberts all had key baskets in the Bucs' win. East Chambers finished the season 11-0 and was tournament champions of the EC Basketball Classic in January. Congratulations to these young men and Coach Crawford on a great season of basketball.

In other action, the EC 8th grade B Team finished their season with an impressive 34-10 win over Anahuac. It was Alex Walker who led EC to an 8-point first quarter with his 6 points. EC’s defensive pressure was solid in the second quarter as they held the Panthers to only 2 points. Walker along with Larenz Jefferson controlled the Bucs' offense with 6 points each. EC extended their lead to 13 points by the end of the quarter when Blake Johnson hit a short jumper at the end of the quarter. After halftime, the Bucs continued to add to their lead. Alex Walker led all scorers with 10 points while Blake Meissner and Blake Johnson added 5 each. Trevor Chambless and Trey Roberts provided the much needed defensive pressure under the basket to ensure the win.
